2 Things You Need When Dealing With A Hoarder's House

Posted on: 11 March 2020

Helping a family member who is a hoarder is never easy. When you are trying to clear out their house, it can turn into a time when your loved one can feel a lot of anxiety and may lash out. That means that you need to have a lot of patience when you are helping them. Patience isn't the only thing that you are going to need to have when you are helping them clean out their house. There are a lot of physical things that you are going to need as well.

Dumpster

One thing you are going to need to have is a place to get rid of all the trash and everything that needs to be disposed of. A dumpster is going to be your best bet in handling all the rubbish for several reasons. One is that you can arrange to have the dumpster picked up whenever it gets full and for a new one to be dropped off at the same time. If you were to use normal trashbags and wait for everything to be picked up by the normal trash collection, you could end up with a really large pile of trash waiting to be picked up. The garbage pickup company may refuse to pick up some of the stuff you are throwing away or may not pick up all the trash bags, so a dumpster from a rental company like Tiger Sanitation LLC is the only real practical choice.

Safety Gear

Another thing that you are going to want to make sure that you have is safety gear. You don't know what you are going to run into while you are cleaning. You want to make sure that you, as well as anyone else helping you, are going to be safe from all kinds of things. At the very least, you are going to want to wear a sturdy pair of work gloves and sturdy shoes. You may also want to make sure that you are wearing long pants and long-sleeve shirts. If you have long hair, you will probably want to tie it up and wear a bandanna or baseball cap over it so that it stays out of your way. If the hoard is really bad, you may also want to wear some kind of dust mask as well as googles.

If you are dealing with a loved one who is a hoarder, you want to make sure that you have everything you need in order to safely dispose of the rubbish.
